Emergency Nyala Paediatric Clinic is urgently seeking motivated and experienced paediatric nurses to join our committed medical team.
BACKGROUND AND ORGANISATION OF WORK
The international Paediatric Nurse is responsible to the Medical Coordinator, who is in charge of the management and organisation of the project.
Our clinic, based in Nyala, is a high-volume facility that includes both a busy Outpatient Department (OPD) and a 12-bed Inpatient Ward. Since the outbreak of war in Sudan in 2023, the humanitarian situation – especially in Darfur – has reached a critical level. Children, in particular, continue to suffer the most severe consequences.
Our team currently treats around 60 children daily, many of whom are in critical condition due to:
- Severe acute malnutrition
- Gastrointestinal diseases
- Respiratory tract infections
- Malaria
- Intoxication from traditional remedies
Since the beginning of this year, 67 patients have been admitted as medical emergencies.
The inpatient ward (14 beds) shares essential services with the OPD, including:
- Laboratory
- X-ray
- Pharmacy
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Nursing Degree (or equivalent Diploma) and current registration on the professional nursing register of your Country of residence;
- at least 5 years’ continuous professional experience in one or more of the following specialist areas: Paediatrics or Neonatology.
- Commitment to working in emergency and crisis settings
- Skills in caring for critically ill children
- Will to work in a high-pressure, resource-limited environment
- Previous experience in the humanitarian sector is preferable but not essential
